Should we continue to mark spoilers on wiki articles?

We started to mark story spoilers on Acepedia's wiki articles when Ace Combat Infinity came out. The only other game release since then (besides Legacy +) is Ace Combat 7, and we've been marking spoilers on every page edited with AC7-related information when news comes out.

However, I'm starting to wonder if this is unnecessary. Other Acepedia members have brought up the possibility of ending the spoiler warnings since "we're on a wiki, spoilers are to be expected."

What do you guys think? Should we stop using spoiler templates, or keep marking pages related to AC7 information as spoilers?

While I do recognize that Wiki's should be expected to have spoilers, I think that it would be greatly appreciated if the spoiler warnings were to stay. On the off chance that someone were to come upon a major spoiler, it could really ruin their day. Now, obviously, this isn't very likely to happen, but I still think that the spoiler alert is a reasonable precaution for just such an event.

What about other wiki's stances regarding new game spoilers? Are we the only ones doing this or are there others?

Black Bee One, Wikipedia stopped pointing out spoilers in 2007. As for other wikis in general, the stance appears to be to leave spoilers unmarked but to have a warning on the Main Page like "Warning: This wiki contains unmarked story spoilers" if even that.

I'd argue that an effort should be made to spoiler tag articles up until AC7 has been released world wide. After that I'd think a warning on the homepage would suffice.

I would say that we should continue to tag articles for 7 with significant and/or any story information with spoilers, just in-case anyone that was just browsing happens upon information they wanted to avoid, just to be on the safe side.

I believe the ideal way to handle this would be to keep all story related content marked as spoiler territory in case anyone wanted to still get into the game completely blind once it comes out, but once the game does come out i would say keep the info within the spoiler tab and later remove it after lets say two months (once march rolls around remove it I say) so that even late new comers or people who wanted to wait for a price drop have a chance for the completely blind playthrough.

@Zane5015: That's already taken into account. Spoiler templates are removed two months after the spoiler content has been released.

Alright, it's been a few days since any replies to this thread, so I'll consider it solved with a consensus: We'll keep using spoiler templates as we have been. Thanks for the input, everyone!
