[edit] Description

The A/F-117X is a variant of the F-117 Nighthawk proposed by Lockheed Martin. Despite its increasing obsolesence development of the F-117 continued and ultimately resulted in the A/F-117X. The unusual designation (A/F instead of the more traditional F/A) is a result the desire by the General Resource Ltd development team to finally lay the myth of the 'Stealth Fighter' to rest and indicates that the A/F-117X is intended primarily for strike missions. By the time of the Coprorate War the design has become so old that instead it has been converted to carry out the reconnaissance role with cameras mounted in the internal weapons bay. The result however is that the aircraft is now unarmed. Given its relatively low participation in the Corporate War it is assumed that this aircraft's days are numbered and was probably finally retired shortly after.

The NavHawk was modified to be lauched from aircraft carriers and had stabilators added, but this doesn't make it a very capable fighter. It was never produced as the US Navy was developing its own stealth attack aircraft called the A-12 Avenger II which had similar capabilities to the F-117A..

[edit] Weapons List

Reconnaissance equipment can be mounted in the internal weapons bay but this leaves the aircraft unarmed.

[edit] Trivia

In Ace Combat 3, it is a land-based fighter. However, it was actually a proposed naval version of the F-117A that was never produced. Also, its stabilators was missing, but instead had a COFFIN system, afterburners and thrust vectoring-which wasn't in the proposal (as in the case of the B-1C Lancer II).
