- "This attacker was developed to make VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) a reality. It has a unique design featuring high mounted wings and four rotating nozzles. This makes it possible to operate in limited spaces such as light aircraft carriers and small airfields. The aircraft is commonly known as the "Harrier.""

In Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, the AV-8B Harrier II Plus is the series' first playable incarnation of the aircraft. It was released with the Online Pack as part of DLC Pack #06 in December 20, 2011, along with the CFA-44 Nosferatu and the maps Tokyo and Honolulu. A Multirole-class fighter, it is the third VTOL aircraft available in the game, after the F-35B Lightning II and the ASF-X Shinden II.
The Harrier II Plus is an aircraft with generally average statistics. Its engines are unable to engage afterburner, making it the slowest aircraft in its class; however, it remains above Attackers in speed, and is still able to exceed speeds of 1,000 km/h. Defense and mobility are acceptable. Furthermore, it has one of the game's highest stability ratings.
Similar to the Shinden and Lightning, the Harrier is able to use its VTOL capable engines to increase its mobility in low speed flight, and engage in a quasi-hover mode. In the event of entering a stall, the engines will automatically pitch up, keeping the aircraft afloat and boosting yaw. Unfortunately, it shares both aircraft's inability to engage in actual vertical flight.
The aircraft's main weapons are a belly-mounted machine gun and 180 standard missiles. Compatible special weapons include the 4AAM, RKTL and 4AGM.
