|Yellow Squadron Su-37 over the Comona Islands|
|Located In||South-eastern Usea|
The Comona Islands are an island chain located not far off the south-eastern coast of the Usean Continent, in the Spring Sea. Due to its low latitude, the islands enjoy a tropical climate.
The home of the famed Riass Space Center, the Islands have been the site of several major military battles through the continent's history, amidst which are 2004's Operation Shattered Skies (known as the largest air battle in Usean, and indeed of Ace Combat history) and the early 2040s.
In 1997, the Comona Islands were captured by anti-Osea forces during the Usean Rebellion, who intended to launch a shuttle ferrying an unnamed laser weapon designed to engage the incoming Ulysses asteroid. The allied forces' Scarface Squadron attacked the site in August 30 and destroyed the weapons before taking down the elite Beast Squadron.
Seven years later, during the Continental War, Comona became the focus of a major air battle between Erusea and the ISAF, who intended to launch a satellite to monitor the Stonehenge Turret Network. Known as Operation Shattered Skies, the battle was the largest dogfight of the entire war, seeing a large number of destroyed aircraft and the intervention of the Yellow Squadron.
In 2030, the islands were used by Simon Cohen in the Nemo Project simulation. In the fictional universe of the experiment, the Comona space center was owned by the Neucom corporation. In one of the central events of the simulation, it was used to launch an armed spaceplane to destroy a group of General Resource satellite-borne lasers in the atmosphere.
- The Comona Islands closely resemble Key West, Florida, due to the fact that they both have similar-looking island chains and an airbase.
