The Comona Islands are an island chain located not far off the south-eastern coast of the Usean Continent, in the Spring Sea. Due to its low latitude, the islands enjoy a tropical climate.

The home of the famed Riass Space Center, the Islands have been the site of several major military battles through the continent's history, amidst which are 2004's Operation Shattered Skies (known as the largest air battle in Usean, and indeed of Ace Combat history) and the early 2040s

Usean RebellionEdit

During the Usean coup d'état, a rebellious military force had began seizing cities and facilities across the Usean continent. One of these facilities happened to be the first Comona Island Space Center on Comona Island. The rebel forces had taken control of a launch pad capable of launching space shuttles, a large storage area and a SSTO launch facility. During an air strike made by the Usean Government's Special Tactical Fighter Squadron (STFS) Scarface, the launch pad and much of the hangar area was destroyed. In one of the hangars a super-heavy long-range bomber was sighted and destroyed by the SFTS. This aircraft model was confirmed as the XB-10 prototype bomber. A second XB-10 would be sighted during the closing days of the war, but shot down soon after. The space facility, taken back by the allied Usean forces, was repaired after the war and continued to operate normally.

Usean Continental WarEdit

In 2004, during the final planning phases of the counter-invasion of the Usean mainland, by the Independent State Allied Forces (ISAF), a satellite which was to be a key part to the ISAF attack was sent to the Comona Island's Riass Space Center. The Erusian Military was informed of this and promptly sent all available aircraft to the Comona Islands in order to destroy the satellite and the rocket which would propel it into space. The ISAF scrambled it's air forces in response to this and the aerial combat which would envelope the space center would develop into the largest air battle in modern history. The Erusian Military sent in waves of fighters which were meant to gain air superiority over the facility and clear the way for a unit of six B-2A Spirit's. The ISAF managed to hold off the Erusian Air Forces, destroyed the B-2A Spirit bombers and other supporting Erusian Aircraft and successfully launched the satellite into space. The ISAF used the momentum of this major victory to launch an amphibious assault on the southern beaches of the Usean Continent.

TriviaEdit

The Comona Islands closely resemble Key West, Florida, due to the fact that they both have similar-looking island chains and an airbase.
