The EC-17U Hornet is a fictional variant of the F/A-18 Hornet aircraft family featured in Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere. The aircraft made its sole appearance in early development of the game, which featured a single "UPEO-aligned" unit engaged in combat over, Waiapolo Mountains, Expo City and Comona Islands.

Extra additional information on this aircraft outside the development does not exists, as the plane was not included (for unknown reasons) in the final version of the game.

Trivia

  • In terms of design, the EC-17U is based on the YF-17 Cobra, the prototype of the F/A-18, as evidenced by the aircraft's elevators, as well as the "-17" in its name.
  • Aside of the beta, EC-17U it´s seen playable flying over Expo City on the Ace Combat 3 teaser from the R4 Ridge Racer Type 4 Bonus Disc.
  • Despite been called as EC-17U like the other UPEO aircraft, the emblem featured on his rudder is a early concept of Neucom Inc emblem called "Solid States", seen on the concept arts from the Relay Essay
