The EC-17U is a variant of the highly capable F/A-18 Hornet Family. This variant was only seen in 2045, during the Neucom-General Resource war and was only deployed by the UPEO. Only one aircraft was sighted during an operation over the Waipolo Mountains.
Any information on this aircraft cannot be found, since it was left out of the Production Version of the game, but it's designation 'EC' can be confirmed as "Electronic Countermeasure". If we take a close look at the elevators, we see that they are the same as those the YF-17 Cobra used. The designation "17" also speaks for it.Its likely that Namco used this to test levels (like the YF-17 prototype was used to test the design) and planned to implement it and then didn't because it wouldn't make sense with the hornet bring there,or because the YF-17 is old and just a prototype.
