The F/A-18D is a twin-seat variant of the F/A-18C. It is primarily used by the United States Marine Corps as a Night Attack and as a Forward Air Controller (FAC) aircraft. Like all Hornet models, it is fully carrier capable, although it is primarily used from land bases. The F/A-18D remains in service with the U.S. Marine Corps.
