For the fictional variant in Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere, see Su-37 Super Flanker.

The Su-35 Super Flanker[1] (Su-35 スーパーフランカー)[2] is a prototype fighter aircraft. It is an advanced development of the Su-27 Flanker-B featuring improved avionics and canards for increased maneuverability. In the real world, the Su-35 was previously known as the Su-27M before the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

The Su-35 Super Flanker was featured in the earliest Ace Combat games, making its debut in Air Combat (erroneously named "Su-27" after its Soviet-era name) and its final appearance in Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War. The Su-35S Flanker-E replaced the Super Flanker in Ace Combat: Assault Horizon and every Su-35 appearance since.

History[]

In Air Combat and Ace Combat 2, the Su-35 saw notable use by Scarface Squadron during the Skully Islands insurrection and the Usean coup d'état. The remake of Ace Combat 2, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy, did not feature the Su-35.

The Su-35 saw action on both sides of the Continental War. Erusea used a limited number of Su-35s in the latter stages of the war,[3][4][5] and at least one ISAF Air Force pilot flew an Su-35 during Operation Autumn Thunder.[6] One Erusean ace, Neujmin, also used this aircraft during Operation Noah's Ark.[3]

Ofnir Squadron used four Su-35s during Operation Riverbed to engage the Razgriz Squadron. Razgriz shot down all of the Su-35s during an intense dogfight inside a canyon.[7] Ofnir later used the S-32 instead of the Su-35 during Operation Arcadia.[8]
