The Ka-25 Hormone is a light, anti-submarine helicopter featured in Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies and Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, in the shape of the Ka-27 Helix.

Ace Combat 04: Shattered SkiesEdit

The Ka-25 Hormone, identified in-game as "KA-25, is a light helicopter operated by the Federal Erusian Navy. It is the rarest helicopter in the game, as well as of the series, in terms of appearances.

The helicopter makes its sole appearance through the game's campaign in mission #6, "Invincible Fleet", in which a single Hormone takes off from the Aegir Fleet aircraft carrier Geofon, and lingers around its proximity after taking off.

It is painted plain gray, and has the Federal Erusian Air Force's roundel on its vertical stabilizers. Since it has no on-board weapons, it is absolutely defenseless to the player's attacks. When shot down, the player is rewarded with a 50-point bonus.

Ace Combat: Assault HorizonEdit

The Ka-27 makes an appearance in Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, under use by forces of the New Russian Federation. The variant featured in the game is the Ka-27PL Helix, a successor version similarly designed for anti-submarine warfare.

In the single-player campaign, it is featured in the mission "Hostile Fleet" as an enemy aircraft. A small number of KA-27s (as they are identified within the game) take off from rebel ships through the couse of the level: one launches from the Admiral Braginsky, another from a target frigate defended by Missile ACVs and a final one from the battle cruiser Admiral Nevzorov.

In all appearances, the Helix displays a plain white body color. After taking off, it remains still in one position from where it tracks the player, and attacks with a slow-firing gun. Its attacks are very inaccurate and cause low damage, making it a negligible threat. It has very low armor, and is very easily defeated. It is the only non-flyable helicopter in the game.
