A two-seat supersonic long-range, all-weather interceptor, the Mikoyan MiG-31, code-named "Foxhound" by NATO is the successor to the MiG-25 Foxbat. Like it's predecessor, it was initially mistaken as a super-dogfighter by western nations.

DescriptionEdit

Despite being labeled as an 'improved Foxbat' in reality the MiG-31 is a completely new aircraft, with greater capability than the MiG-25; although its maximum speed is reduced to keep from red lining and potentially damaging its engines. The development of the MiG-31 began in the mid-1970s and by September 16, 1975 the first prototype flew.It was initially designed to intercept the Mach 3 capable XB-70 Valkyrie and other strategic bombers before the can deliver their payload.

This is by far the fastest and hardest-accelerating aircraft in ACZ. In AC5, it is only exceeded by its variant, the MiG-31M "Foxhound B". It is the same aircraft flown by the Schwarze Squadron.
