Early hours of the coup
Edit
In 2015, the Russian criminal organization Blatnoi launched an attack on Dubai, threatening to destroy it with Trinity. In response, the NATO 108th Task Force was deployed to Dubai to defend the city. However, the threat against Dubai was just a smokescreen for Blatnoi to stage a coup d'état in Russia. Led by Russians Ivan Stagleishov and Andrei Markov, sixteen units of the Russian Army defected to the New Russian Federation and in the early hours of the coup, were able to capture the Russian capital Moscow.
The tide turns
Edit
The city of Derbent, on the Caspian Sea, was besieged by NRF forces on December 31st, 2015. In response, the 108th Task Force, including the Warwolf Squadron, as well as loyalist Russian landing unit Tyuleni. The operation involved a landing on Derbent's beachhead and an assault on the NRF stronghold, the town fortress. A fierce battle was fought and the fortress was captured by the Russians. However, just as the battle was thought to be won, coup leader Andrei Markov appeared in his Su-35 and fired a Trinity missile on the city. Colonel William Bishop, who was leading the air forces over Derbent at the time, quickly intercepted the missile, and it detonated harmlessly a few miles from the Tyuleni unit. The attempted attack was confirmed to be by a Trinity warhead.
A few days later, the Belyi Base in Russia was attacked by NRF forces. Warwolf Squadron was deployed to defend the base as well as escort a Russian transport flight, callsign Sova, into the base airspace and land safely. All transports landed successfully after a fierce aerial engagement and six successful attack runs against NRF ground forces.
Intel from military satellites confirmed that the Prime Minister of Russia was being held hostage on his private yacht in the Black Sea, towed by a Krivak-class frigate. The Warwolf Squadron was deployed to the area along with loyalist Russian air unit, callsign Molot, to rescue the Prime Minister along with US Navy SEAL unit Hammer and Spetsnaz unit Zoya. The frigate was sunk quickly, but then AWACS Magic alerted all allied forces to target the rest of the fleet in the vicinity. First sunk was the Admiral Kuznetsov class carrier Admiral Aristov, along with its entire air arm of Su-33s and Ka-27s. Following this was a Kara-class cruiser, which had to be destroyed by having its AA barrage destroyed. After this followed a number of missile ACVs, corvettes and frigates before a final Kirov-class cruiser appeared. After both air units performed considerable damage on the cruiser, Magic gave the commander of the ship a chance to surrender, repeating the request in both English and Russian. When no response came through, the orders were patched through to Warwolf to sink the cruiser. The only naval/air-to-sea engagement of the war was over.
Four days later, the Razor Squadron was deployed to an ICBM base in the Caucasus region to take out the nuclear missile silos that were preparing to launch an attack on the U.S. All missile batteries were destroyed, thanks to Razor's aircraft, the B-1B/B-2A bomber. Afterwards, as Razor 1 prepared to head back to base escorted by Warwolf, a single ICBM was launched from a previously undetected missile truck. Breaking from the formation and facing the wrath of four enemy fighters, Warwolf 1 single-handedly destroyed the missile before it entered its re-entry sequence.
Liberation of Moscow
Edit
On January 15, 2016, NATO and loyalist Russian units combined forces to launch a counterattack that would liberate Moscow. The first wave was led by the Shooter Squadron, who attacked the city center along with the Russian Hind squadron Osa and the Riga battalion. At the same time, Razor Squadron attacked positions in the north and east of the city. Shooter Squadron was first deployed to destroy an enemy tank unit positioned at the Kutzutov Street interchange, then move on to the Moscow International Business Center (IBC) where more enemy positions were destroyed, along with two rebel Hinds. The three units were then moved to the Moskva Hotel across the river to destroy a demolition crew threatening to destroy nearby Novarbatsky Bridge, vital for the Riga battalion for crossing the city. Afterwards, missiles rang out from all directions and three Osa gunships were shot down, necessitating the remaining helicopters to descend below the buildings. Magic was able to detect multiple radar trucks moving through the streets, tracking the helicopters. Shooter 1 voluntarily went to eliminate the positions, which were scattered in different areas of the city, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and even in the Kremlin. Despite the barrage that came at Shooter 1 during the assault, all radar battalions were obliterated. However, soon after, a Trinity missile started flying towards the suburbs. It exploded, taking down some of the gunships, although Shooter 1 survived.
Soon afterwards, the Warwolf Squadron had arrived over Moscow airspace and noticed a large number of Moskit cruise missiles heading towards the city at high speed, launched by five Tu-160 Blackjack bombers flying outside city airspace. All missiles were intercepted, but the five bombers now began to enter city airspace along with their fighter escorts. All five bombers were successfully intercepted, but then José Gutierrez, aka Warwolf 2, noticed that only five bombers were down when there should've been a sixth, stating "the Russians have been flying six-ship formations throughout the war." In response, the fighters searched below the radar net, where the additional bomber was, carrying one of the other Trinity weapons and escorted by Markov, who was itching for a rematch with Bishop. The bomber took top priority, and was destroyed before launching Trinity. Bishop then entered a one-on-one dogfight with Markov, whose plane was destroyed in the ensuing match, although he successfully bailed out. Moscow was liberated.
Aftermath
Edit
A few days later, Stagleishov attempted to surrender to NATO and Russian forces, making a deal using the final Trinity warhead, but was shot dead by Markov, who planned on using the warhead to destroy the White House in revenge for his wife, Krista Yoslav's, death. He flew to South America, where he was joined by former NATO pilot and VVS wingman Sergei Illich. The most fearsome drama of the war was to be acted out.
