Summary

Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War is the second PlayStation 2 game in the Ace Combat series, released in 2004. For the first time since Ace Combat 2 in 1997, the player could provide orders to their wingmen, through the brand-new Wingman Command system. The game also expanded on the Strangereal universe, leaving the Usean continent from prior games.

While Ace Combat 5 did not sell as well as its predecessor, Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies, it has remained a classic in the series. The Razgriz tale, the individual characterization of the player's wingmen, and the fully-voiced missions and cutscenes in a complete story was only previously seen in Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere, which had not been localized internationally. Combined with the rare anti-war story, Ace Combat 5 has been cemented as a fan favorite.
