The Su-35 Flanker-E is a fighter aircraft part of the Flanker family of aircraft.
The aircraft debuted in Ace Combat 2 and has made subsequent sporadic appearances since.
History
Strangereal
The Su-35 "Super Flanker" was piloted by the legendary mercenary ace called Phoenix during the first Usean Continental War against the Usean Rebel Forces.
The Su-35 later saw combat on both sides of the Second Usean Continental War. Erusea would use them in limited numbers in the latter stages of the war, and at least one ISAF Su-35 flew in Operation Autumn Thunder.[1] An Erusian ace, Neujmin also used this type of aircraft.[2]
It was also used during the Circum-Pacific War by the Ofnir Squadron in Operation Riverbed as reinforcements sent by the Yuktobanian forces to engage the Razgriz Squadron. They were all shot down by the Razgriz Squadron after an intense dogfight in a canyon.[3]
Assault Horizon Universe
The Su-35S was obtained and used by the New Russian Federation as one of it's primary fighter. It was Andrei Markov's signature aircraft which featured a shark mouth nose design until William Bishop shot him down during air battle above Moscow.[4] During the invasion of Miami[5] and the attack of Washington, D.C.[6], NRF used it as it's mainstay fighter.

Trivia
- Two variants of the Su-35 are depicted in Ace Combat. The first is the original prototype of the Su-35, also known as the Su-27M, which appears in all games before Assault Horizon. The second is the final production variant, officially known as the Su-35S, which is featured in Assault Horizon and Infinity.
- During the development of Ace Combat 2, the Namco team wanted the player to be able to perform the Flanker family's signature "Pugachev's Cobra" with the Su-35. Towards the development deadline, they managed to allow the AI to perform the maneuver, but were unable to let the player perform it. Right before the game's release, the development crew modified some parameters to allow players to perform a rudimentary Cobra, but the feature was ultimately removed.
- The large numbers of enemy Su-35s appearing in Assault Horizon suggest that the aircraft has gone under mass production in the game's universe. In reality, it is still in limited use by the Russian Air Force.
- The Su-35S is one of the few, if not only, aircraft where the front wheel is lower than the back wheels.
- In Assault Horizon mission 8: Pipeline, Markov's Su-35S appears and drops a Trinity missile which means that the PAK-FA is not the only aircraft able to carry an EW1. However the Trinity missile cannot be used by the player with the Su-35S.
