The Su-37 Terminator is a 4.5th-generation post-Soviet prototype fighter developed by Sukhoi.

HistoryEdit

StrangerealEdit

In the Strangereal world, the Su-37 Terminator was developed during the Cold War as an all-weather multirole aircraft, an evolved version of the Su-35 Super Flanker and the most advanced aircraft of the Flanker series. Its abilities made it one of the prime fighter aircraft in production, similar to the F-22A Raptor.

Terminators were first known to be deployed by Belka during the Belkan War, where some were manned by a handful of ace pilots during the conflict. The most famous were Orbert Jager and Rainer Altman of the 23rd Tactical Fighter Squadron Gelb, who were defeated by the Galm Team during the liberation of Directus after establishing Belkan dominance in the southern front.[1]

In Usea, Su-37s were among the best aircraft used by Erusea after the end of the Cold War, but were used in a limited manner when compared to the PAK-FA. Terminators were famously flown by the 156th Tactical Fighter Wing during the Continental War, who used their skill in conjunction with its advanced technologies to achieve deadly results through the course of the war until their destruction in the siege of Farbanti.[2] A batch of unused Terminators were obtained by the Yellow replacement pilots that defended Megalith at the end of the conflict, who homaged their precursors by painting their jets in Yellow colors.[3]

Real worldEdit

ACAH Su-37 Rear
In the Assault Horizon universe, the Su-37 was developed by Sukhoi after the birth of the Russian Federation as a multipurpose, all-weather interceptor that built on the existing capabilities of the Su-27 Flanker. It proved successful enough to warrant the creation of an export model that replaced the Su-30, the Su-37K.[4]

Part Slots
These are the minimum part slots this aircraft carries at the respective levels. More can be added by repeatedly sortieing with the aircraft (see below). Keep in mind that a maximum of 7 parts can be equipped at any time, regardless of available slots.

BODY ARMS MISC
Lv.1-5 24 22 23
Lv.6-14 26 24 25
Lv.15 27 25 26
An aircraft's part slots can be steadily increased by sortieing repeatedly with that aircraft. The amount of "part slot expansion points" required depends on the lowest number of slots in any part category at Lv.1. The point requirements are displayed below. After each sortie, players will receive anywhere between 100 to 130 expansion points (sometimes a little more). When all of the points for an expansion are obtained, all three part slot categories will receive one additional slot, and the left-over points will carry over to the next expansion.

If any sections display "0", then data is not currently available for that part slot expansion on this aircraft yet.

TriviaEdit

  • The appearance of the aircraft remains the same in the series except in Ace Combat: Assault Horizon and Ace Combat Infinity, which replaces the Sorbtsiya ECM pods with wingtip missile launchers.
  • The Su-37's NATO reporting name used throughout the Ace Combat series, "Terminator", is not the same as the NATO actually uses for it ("Flanker-F"). It is possible that Strangereal uses a different naming convention, but that wouldn't explain why the plane is still referred as "Terminator" in games set on Earth.
    • The alternate possibility is that the moniker is directly adopted from Sukhoi and refers to the model's vastly improved electronics. A quick sweep with Yandex.ru searcher indicates that this moniker is universally accepted, yet no explantion is ever given. The current "Terminator" of the Russian Armed forces is the Object 199/BMPT "Ramka".
  • The Su-37 model used in Assault Horizon has the elevators and nozzles a bit swept down by default. It is unknown if this is a glitch or it was intentional.
  • In some of the installments, one can even attempt to pull a rudimentary Cobra by pulling the nose up while decelerating to near-stall speeds; instead of falling towards the ground, it remains in position for a while.
