The F.Mk2 was the first generation of the Air Defense Variant (ADV) of the Panavia Tornado in Royal Air Force service. Only 18 of these aircraft were ever produced, as there were serious technical difficulties with the Foxhunter radar. The F.2 variant first flew on March 5, 1984 and was introduced into service later that year, only to have it's brief service end in the RAF four years later. The more successful F.3 variant would soon replace the troubled F.2.
