The Eurofighter EF-2000 Typhoon is a highly versatile, delta-winged fighter craft designed by the multinational Eurofighter GmbH.
History
A fourth-generation combat fighter, the Typhoon represents the pinnacle of modern European aviation. The aircraft originated from a need of the United Kingdom to develop an aircraft to replace the Harrier and SEPECAT Jaguar fleets of the Royal Air Force. The coinciding research of other West European countries on a similar requirement led to the establishment of an alliance between British Aerospace, Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm and Dassault to produce a new fighter, the European Combat Aircraft, which ended with the collapse of the ECA project on account of leadership disputes.
The precursor to the Typhoon, the Agile Combat Aircraft (ACA), was later built by the Panavia group, followed by British Aerospace developing the Experimental Aircraft Programme demonstrator in 1983. A coalition formed by Italy, Germany, Spain, France and the UK jointly worked to build the aircraft until its first flight in 1994, followed by its formal naming in 1998 at Farnsborough. The EF-2000 has since been adopted by Britain and Italy, and purchase orders have been placed or considered by several Western air forces, and remains a major symbol of European air power.
General analysis
In its various incarnations, the Eurofighter Typhoon is a mid-level Fighter aircraft that displays a level of performance that allows it to match more advanced aircraft such as the F-22A Raptor in virtually all aspects. It is tailored to engage both air and ground targets with ease, and is armed with an arsenal of multirole weapons to match.

Description
- "The latest, elite air supremacy fighter created through joint development between the four countries of England, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Offering high maneuverability, an excellent fire control system also allows it to excel at air combat against multiple targets. A combination of a close-coupled delta canard wing (front wing) and delta wings provide excellent aerodynamic capabilities, giving it agility most suited to the name, the "Typhoon"."
