The Typhoon is multirole fighter designed by the multinational Eurofighter GmbH. With a canard delta wing layout, the Typhoon is an advanced 4.5 generation fighter. It displays a level of performance that allows it to match more advanced aircraft in numerous aspects. It can easily undertake air combat and ground strike operations.

History

Typhoons were fielded as early as the Belkan War, with Rot Squadron being the most notable user. Several other BAF aces flew the aircraft. The Allied Forces (Osea, Ustio, etc.) also had their own units, participating in several battles.

In the years that followed, air forces in Usea such as the Scarface TFS and Federal Erusian Air Force also had their respective Typhoons, seeing combat in the region's 1997, 1998 and 2004-2005 wars.

The Typhoon remained fairly popular as a high tier air combat fighter throughout the 21st Century, with numerous users maintaining their respective fleets.

DESCRIPTION

A state-of-the-art, superior fighter that was developed through a collaboration between Great Britain, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Excellent maneuverability and multi lock-on weaponry make dogfights against numerous opponents its specialty. The combination of the canard wing, called a close-coupled delta, and the delta wing give it great aerodynamics and agility befitting the name "Typhoon."

Trivia

• The Typhoon is tied with the F-117A Nighthawk for the highest appearances in the Ace Combat series, appearing in all 12 games and having a fictional variant, the EF-2000E Typhoon II, appear in Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere.
• In recent naming conventions, the "EF-2000" moniker became somewhat obsolete as the aircraft was meant to enter service in the year 2000. An older designation was "EFA", which stood for European Fighter Aircraft. The final name "Typhoon" was chosen in the late 90's. The German Luftwaffe however, chose to continue to refer their aircraft as EF-2000 due to "Typhoon" apparently referring to Hawker Typhoon, a prop-driven fighter bomber commonly employed against Germany in World War 2.
