Valais Air Base is a military airfield in eastern Ustio, built on the Tyrann Mountains region. It was one of the most important military bases of the country, home to the 66th Air Force Unit in the Belkan War.
The only known airbase in the country, Valais Air Base primarily conducts airspace surveillance and border patrol roles during peacetime. Constructed among mountainous terrace, landings require a high degree of pilot experience. Owing to the local geography, several hangars, known as "Alert Hangars", are built within the mountains themselves, allowing pilots to rapidly scramble.
In 1995, Valais was the only major base in Ustio to survive the Belkan invasion in the outbreak of the Belkan War, becoming a safe haven for the country's surviving troops and mercenaries. The Belkan Air Force unsucessfully tried to destroy the base on April 2, after which it became one of the central military bases in the war as the home to the 66th Air Force Unit. At the end of that year, the base was heavily damaged in a surprise attack by the XB-0 Hresvelgr cruiser, stolen by A World With No Boundaries, after bombing the city of Lumen. The Galm Team launched and destroyed it over the Waldreich Mountains.
The air base's status after the Belkan War is unknown. Since Ustio remained neutral, and most likely was never invaded again. However, it is assumed it went back to usual routine border control.
